Buying a Home in the Greater Tulsa Area

A search built around what matters to you, with each step explained before you reach it.

What Buying a Home Here Involves

Buying a home in the Greater Tulsa Area means choosing more than a house. You're choosing a town, a school district, a daily drive, and how you'll spend your weekends. Two homes at the same price can lead to very different day-to-day lives.

Whether this is your second home or your fifth, the process has a lot of moving parts: financing, the offer, the investigations, inspections and reviews period, the appraisal, and closing at the title company. My job is to keep all of it clear, so you always know what's happening and what comes next.

How I Help You Buy

I'm Christina Shortsleeve, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX Results, and I help buyers across the Greater Tulsa Area, most often in Broken Arrow and Coweta. I start by asking what you want your everyday life to look like, then build the search around that.

I'll help you understand what your budget buys in the towns you're considering, point out what's easy to miss in listing photos, and check the commute and school district for each home you're serious about. After each showing, you'll get my clear read on the home. The decision is always yours.

When you find the right one, I help you write a strong offer and negotiate on your behalf. I'm a Certified Real Estate Negotiator, and I stay with you through inspection, appraisal and closing.

What You Get

  • A no-commitment start. New buyers begin with a touring agreement.
  • A search built around your life, not everything on the market.
  • Your full costs up front: down payment, closing costs, earnest money and monthly payment.
  • A clear read on every home we see together.
  • Offer, negotiation and closing support, one step at a time.

Every step is laid out on my page about how I help you buy a home. If this is your first purchase, my page for first-time buyers goes into more detail.

What Changes From Town to Town

The buying process is the same across the Greater Tulsa Area, but what your budget buys is not. In Tulsa, a price range might mean an older home near Cherry Street or Brookside with character and some upkeep, or newer construction farther south or east. In Broken Arrow, it might mean a home near the Rose District, downtown Broken Arrow, or a newer subdivision to the southeast. In Coweta, it might mean more land and a longer drive on Highway 51.

Two details catch buyers off guard most often. The first is the school district, since an address does not always tell you. Parts of Broken Arrow, for example, fall within Union or Bixby Public Schools. The second is the commute, which can change a lot within one town depending on which side of it you live on.

I check both for every home you are serious about, so you can compare homes on the things that will shape your daily life, not only the photos.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be pre-approved before we look at homes?

I recommend it. A pre-approval tells you what a lender is willing to lend and lets you act quickly when the right home appears. I can introduce you to lenders if you need one.

How long is the inspection period?

Oklahoma contracts call it the investigations, inspections, and reviews period. It's usually about 10 days, but the exact length is set in each contract.

Who handles closing?

In Oklahoma, closing is handled by a title company, after a final walkthrough of the home.
